MUSIC // NINJA TUNE XX

Ninja Tune XX Boxset

The ninja tune XX boxset has finally been released into the wild. 20 years down the line the boys (Matt Black & Jonathan More) have amassed an extraordinary and elaborate range of tunes; ranging from the gruff but warm voice of Roots Manuva to the chilled out beats from the forest, Bonobo all the way to the modern day dancehall, Toddla T.

I will let the photos do the justice.

As you can see its such a masterpiece, the detail that has gone into the display and presentation is simply amazing, the intricate design detail goes on throughout the whole box set, this paired with the 106 songs makes this the only item you need display on your mantelpiece.

I look forward to the next 20 years to see how much further these guys are willing to develop.

Grab your copy....HERE

I've also included a mega medley mix which will give you a clearer insight into just some of the songs available, this is a somewhat under par mix, but within 5 minutes of receiving my box set I needed to add my twist...

RANDOM // TOUR OF BALTIMORE

If you are yet to have had the fortune of watching The Wire, I strongly suggest you quickly go and buy it; actually just follow this link......HEAVEN

Below are Google map street views of various places that play a prominent part in the series. I have also included a few lessons dished about by the irrepressible D'Angelo.....enjoy.

THE PIT

The pit is where most of season 1 was based around. D'Angelo, Bodie, Poot and Wallace spend all day everyday selling and dealing drugs. It's also where D'Angleo teaches Bodie and Wallace how to play chess...

HAMSTERHAM

Hamsterham became a 'free zone' in series 3.

LITTLE JOHNNIE'S

Little Johnnie's was were Nick met Vonda and the Greek, they loved to drink little cups of coffee and talk about cans. However, Ziggy never brought his Duck here.

CITY HALL

Baltimore City Hall and War Memorial features in the background of many shots throughout the series. Stinger Bell and Prop Jo also met in the rain here.

ORLANDO'S

Orlando's was a front business were most of Barkdale's crew hung out, it also held all the money. Stringer Bell's copy shop is just a bit further down the road.

MAJOR CRIMES UNIT

The Major Crimes unit was were Daniels, McNulty, Kima, Leicester, Herc, Pryzbylewski and a few other police listen to wire taps and sit around looking smug when they pick something up. It's also where Prez punches his father in law in the face.

POLICE HEADQUARTERS

The police headquarters is used in a few shots throughout the series. The building is a great example of Bauhaus architecture designed by Miles van der Rohe.

PROPOSITION JO'S REPAIR SHOP

Prop Jo's repair shop was a front for all his drug dealings. It was also the first video shop in Baltimore.

Finally; a favourite clip of mine, D'Angelo gives Wallace and Poot a lesson about why the inventor of chicken mcnuggets would never have made it rich...

That was a mission!

CLOTHING // NIKE SB

Nike SB Stefan Janoski Anthracite - Jetstream

The Stefan Janoski model, in my eyes, is the divine manifestation of shoe. The simplistic design and colour make these the shoes to beat all shoes. A must have purchase for the end of summer along with countless other products from the SB range. Check them all out HERE
