PICTURE // DAILY DOG

Apologies for the lack of bloggage but once again we are working hard on new designs and completing plenty of screen print orders for others.

In the meantime, what wizardry is this!....

WEBSITE // FILM THE BLANKS

Every now and then I steer away from the usual 5 or 6 websites I check daily and got lost in a vortex of Wikipedia knowledge or spend a good 20 minutes clicking links on imdb. Although I'm absorbing plenty of info I never really feel like I'm learning anything new....well today I still haven't really found anything but I do feel as if I've struck some sort of rare gem, so behold.... Film the Blanks. A stunning collection of your favourite movie posters which have simply just been simplified. You can see what I mean below or just gaze in wonderment at the vast archive. Shotgun getting 'City of God' in print.

TUNE OF THE DAY // Gold Panda - Marriage (Halls Remix)

For those die hard followers of the blog, you may remember that way back in the early days of the blog when only a handful would visit a week I did a little wee number on Gold Panda. To refresh your mind check it out HERE. I recently found myself with his Marriage EP which includes his original and then 3 remix's all perfectly sublime in their entirety. The Halls remix is my personal favourite and I love pumping it out. So if you like Gold, Pandas, Oriental things or simply have a fascination for great music, then I have found your saviour.

Be sure show your love for him on his facebook: あなたは素晴らしいです。(Roughly translates as you are wonderful.)

PICTURE // DAILY DOG

Absolutely no idea what is going on with this sort of reptile-dog-human centipede ensemble, anyway better stick it on the beach so the kids can play with it...

TUNE OF THE DAY // Q-Tip - Breath and Stop (Neon Steve Remix)

I would like to introduce you to a man called Steve, who either has a distinct infatuation with the inert gaseous element and likens himself to that of a superhero. OR he is fascinated by the illuminating glow of neon lights. However, I feel Steve's DJ name comes as a direct result from his love of wearing bright 'neon' or 'fluorescent' clothing whilst playing out and wowing his dedicated fans.

I have only just come across Steve and am so pleased to have him involved in my life, his tunes are top notch and whats even better the majority of them are for FREE.

There is something for everyone here, if those reading this are dedicated advocates to the blog, make sure you hound Steve to get him to travel over to the UK and to pump out this absolute bangers of tunes. If necessary you can stay at mine.

Much Love.

TUNE OF THE DAY // Blawan - Getting Me Down

I feel that now is the time to share with you a quality little vinyl which I've actually just won by entering a competition at Subverb. Well worth a gander for a greater fix of music or just to see what's going on in the Nottingham area. If you search hard enough you will even come across some of my own work, but I'll let you guys decipher that all for yourselves. I feel pretty privileged to have won such a great tune that was strictly limited to vinyl only. I've joined an elite few!

Enjoy.

TUNE OF THE DAY // Jesper Ryom - Godt Begyndt

Finally Jesper Ryoms highly anticipated Nature Boy EP has seen its release on Power Plant Records. The vinyl artwork alone is worthy of purchase. I highly recommend purchasing the album HERE! This tune is huge and once again it's great to see such quality music oozing from the Scandinavian regions. Well looking forward to more releases.

Hope you all enjoy this as much as I am.

RANDOM // LOUKANIKOS

Who says posting videos on blogs is wrong? Anyway, this quality dog needs to be given some of the limelight as he's basically fronting Greece's protest about hefty government cutbacks. See for yourself the bravery of 'Loukanikos', a stray from Athens offering the riot police out....and what do they do? Shit themselves behind shields and riot gear thinking, "shit this dog is pissed at the cut backs"

He even has a Facebook page, quite a legend it would seem.

and now I present to you.....Riot DOG!

TUNE OF THE DAY // Motor City Drum Ensemble - L.O.V.E (DJ Kicks Exclusive)

Motor City Drum Ensemble- L.O.V.E. (DJ-Kicks exclusive) by !K7 Records

This is taken from Motor City Drum Ensemble excellent forthcoming album as undertaken by the infamous DJ-Kicks, forthcoming on !K7.

The release will be Danilo Plessow's first official mix CD. Known for his bass-heavy, soul-inspired sound, the Stuttgart-based artist put out a string of records between 2007 and 2009 that made him a favorite among DJs and house music fans, most notably the Raw Cuts 12-inch series. The mix looks to be a particularly diverse affair, with plenty of nods to Plessow's influences, starting off with experimental jazz gods Sun Ra and moving through selections from Aphex Twin, Rhythm & Sound, Tony Allen and Loose Joints. Classic house fare comes in the form of Mr. Fingers and Recloose, while Fred P (AKA Black Jazz Consortium) brings the ethereal touch with "On This Vibe." An exclusive Motor City Drum Ensemble track is included as well, entitled "L.O.V.E."

Tracklist
01. Sun Ra - Door To The Cosmos
02. Electric Wire Hustle - Again (Scratch 22 Remix)
03. Rhythm & Sound - Mango Drive
04. Tony Allen - Ariya
05. Peven Everett - Stuck
06. Bad Jazz Troupe - Breakdown Treat (Dusty Rework) (MCDE Edit)
07. Mr. Fingers - The Juice

09. Stone - Girl I Like the Way That You Move (Dub)
10. Fred P - On This Vibe
11. Creative Swing Alliance - Don't Forget Your Keyz
12. Geraldo Pino & The Heartbeats - Black Woman Experience
13. Philippe Sarde - Le Cortège Et Course

I shall finish of the day with a boxer drinking water...

BELIEVE // TMB PANYEE FC

I love football. You might not love football but this video will make those that don't love football, love football and those that do love football love it even more.....anyway, this film is based on a true story about a group of young kids that lived on a little island in the south of Thailand called "Koh Panyee", a floating village in the middle of the sea that hasn't got a grain of soil. The kids here loved to watch football on tele but obviously had nowhere to play, they didn't let that stop them though and this quality short shows why they have become and inspiration for generations to come on their island....enjoy.

YOUTUBE // THEYELLOWDOGHOUSE

Oh yeah that's right we got a youtube page. We don't have any videos, likes, subscriptions or whatever else is possible but I swear DOWN that if we get just 1 subscription or friend.....we will produce a stopmotion or tiltshift video of what goes on in the shed and then keep the page bang up to date. Click the icon below and be taken straight there...

TUNES OF THE DAY // HIATUS

This album is out of this world. Turn it up loud and just let it take you on a crazy persian adventure into the unknown realms of your mind. Seriously.

Ghost Notes LP by Hiatus

I didn't think it would be possible to keep this simply ridiculous dogblog feature going as long as it has been but I just scanned through about 500+ photos of dogs running....without blinking. Anyway, this was one of my favourites, enjoy...

PAKISTAN // SPIDER TREE

These massive trees are totally covered in minging spider webs, something never before seen in Sindh, Pakistan, where this photo was taken. Although the thought of having to touch one of them or climb a ladder to get your cat out is beyond comprehension, apparently they actually have a positive effect in an area of the world that seems to be continually punished by drought, rains, disease and famine.
These spiders usually crawl on the ground but, when the massive July last year took over one fifth of the 307,374 square miles of Pakistani land, they escaped to the trees. The water is taking a long time to recede, so they thought it may be a good idea to adapt to the situation, establish camp and have a big party up there. The results is thousands of cocooned trees EVERYWHERE!

The positive effect noted by the UK's Department for International Development thinks that the massive spiderwebs in trees are trapping mosquitoes by the lorryload. According to the people in these areas, the mosquito levels are extremely low for this time of the year. Even more so taking into account the vast amount of stagnant water, which acts as a nursery for those pesky winged bastards. As a result, the risk of a malarial plague is much lower than expected.
In other words: Cheers Spiders! Having said that, if I see a relatively large one around the house I will keep quite and slowly move away out the room.

TUNE OF THE DAY // JOLENE - ILYA SANTANA

In homage to the Buzzin' Fly radio show recently posted, I've taken a track I absolutely love from the second part of the show. Created by the Spanish producer Ilya Santana, the founder of Santa Esperanza, this tune has a seriously smooth beginning...enjoy.

"Jolene" Ilya santana version by Ilya Santana (Official)

MUSIC // BEN WATT

One of the parties I look forward to most each year was conceived by the acclaimed DJ and visionary Ben Watt. I reckoned I was pretty clued-up as to whatever Watts and his independent record label Buzzin' Fly would be beaming out next, but the diversity of the man and label makes that hard work. Primarily focussing on leading edge underground deep House and Techno...trust me, not as bad as it might sound to those of you reading this and unwrapping your latest Olly Murs CD.

For a taster check out the latest edition of his weekly radio show. Usually split into 2 parts and now in it's 239th episode, so that gives you some indication into the popularity of the label...enjoy.
